The Copenhagen Experience
Collection
The Paint It Black Collection
Autumn 2008
The inspiration for the Paint it Black Collection has for a big part of it been about
simplicity and elegance - confronted by decadence, trying to give decadence an updated meaning. Paris in the early sixties has
been important, so has London - Mary Quant, Courreges and Cardin - Bob Dylan playing electric at London Olympia in 1966 - the
optimism - confronted by a touch of spleen, weltschmertz.
The tone is slightly thoughtful, and at the same time sexy, shiny and elegantly optimistic.

The Copenhagen...
Mads Nørgaard
Mads Nørgaard is the head of Design and the owner of the company Mads Nørgaard - Copenhagen. Mads also created
the idea and concept for 'The Copenhagen Experience" trilogy.
On making the films Mads says: "I wanted to do a film - a fashion film - because I try to keep an element of passion and renewal in
everything I do. Making it has been a great experience and lots of fun, but also quite challenging - it is after all the first time I work within this
particular media. It's also a completely new take on presenting the collections and my company, so obviously I find it all very exciting. Especially working
with so many cool, professional and inspiring people has been an absolute pleasure. For all who know what role music plays in my work, it is an honour to
present the film and the soundtrack."
Djuna Barnes
Djuna barnes aka. Maria Gerhardt stole her dj-name from her favourite writer around the year 2000 - and then started to spin her personal selection of rock and rave, alternative moden pop and
obscure crate-finds at crazy trashdrag collective "Dunst" parties and has since then developed a fast and furious career on the Copenhagen dance
floors as well as around Europe, Tokyo and New York City.
She has been involved in underground clubs like Suicide Sundays and club-kid-stomper Yohad, played next to Justice, Simian Mobile Disco and Hot chip and headlined major events alongside queer
legends like Grace Jones, Boy George and Peaches. She has currently 3 residencies: Vega nightclub, Culture Box and sleazy after-hours hangout Dunkel as well as handling the music booking for the
cool new Islandic hotspot bar Jolene. To top it all off, she also produces for up and coming bands and writes for her two personal columns in THE danish music magazine Soundvenue as well as the
cool and deadly serious daily newspaper Information. She is the only woman ever to be nominated in a category twice at the Danish DJ awards and due to her many appearances in magazines, on TV and
around town she is known as quite a celesbian, style-icon and big mouth.
Rework
The band Rework was founded in 2000 by Daniel Varga and Michel Kübler. In 2005 they discovered the singer Sascha Hedgehog at a
concert with her French beat punk band "Les Quitriche", which sparked an immediate musical partnership. The boys produce while Sascha writes the lyrics and works on the melodies. Since the three
share the same musical influences and Idols from Velvet Underground to New Wave and EBM, they quickly agree on a style, gravitating between club, indie, cabaret and house.
So far Rework has played at clubs all over Europe - from London to Paris to Porto - even managing to pull off a gig in Moscow.
Rework was chosen to re-record the song 'Copenhagen'. Produced by Anders Trentemøller and co-produced by Djuna Barnes it ended up as The Copenhagen Experience #2, which is the soundtrack for the second film in the 'The Copenhagen Experience' trilogy.

Steen Jørgensen
Steen Jørgensen was the lead singer in the punk band Sods back in 1977 (Sods later became Sort Sol in 1983). In 1978 the band had their first big concert warming up for
Iggy Pop at the Ny Teater. In 1979 their debut album "Minutes to go" came out which is still heralded as the first Danish punk album. Reforming as Sort Sol, the band went on to become wildly
influential with their experimental sound and have since released several grammy-wining albums along the way. Some years later Steen recorded the album
Ginman/Jørgensen, which was highly applauded upon its release. In 2000 Sort Sol signed up with Universal music. The last album to be released from Sort Sol was 'Snakecharmer' in 2001.
Steen Jørgensen was, with Marie Fisker, the lead singer in the re-recording of the song 'Copenhagen', which was recorded for the first film in 'The Copenhagen Experience' trilogy'.

Anders Trentemøller
Trentemøller loves to create antipodes in his music and so the contrast between large and vast echo chambers and sharp, direct in-your-face sound bits are characteristic
of his sound. Coupled with outstanding production skills, he creates fascinating song structures many of which have become instant club classics all over the world.
In late 2006, his debut album 'The Last Resort" was released, creating a storm in numerous reader polls while scoring fantastic reviews and the coveted '#1 album of the year' in many magazines. Thanks to Trentemøller's unique sound he is also a much-demanded remixer for names like The Knife, Royksopp, Pet Shop Boys, Moby and Brian Ferry. Due to the iconic "Trentemøller twist" most of his remixes have become huge hits in club land. Trentemøller is currently working on material for his next album.

band Whomadewho. Also working as a solo artist, Thomas has releases on several of the best international electro and house labels (Kitsuné, Gomma, Get Physical and Turbo) while managing to create
crtitically aclaimed remixes of the likes of Bloc Party, Gorillaz and Chromeo. On the business side of things he is heavily involved in the Copenhagen festival 'Distortion' and the fresh yet odd
record label 'Tartelet' done with fellow dj/party organizer Frederik Bille Brahe. If you wanna catch him as a dj or with Whomadewho he is regularly playing
festivals and nightclubs around Europe.
Tomas produced the first re-recording of the song 'Copenhagen' which was mixed by Anders Trentemøller and featuring Steen Jørgensen and Marie Fisker on vocals.

Marie Fisker
Marie Fisker comes from Copenhagen, Denmark. Her lo-fi-vintage music is a blend of blues, country and rock. A bitter sweet almost David Lynch alike imaginary expression. Marie has kept
instrumentation simple but very effective; everything's carefully slotted in its place to just punctuate and enhance her silky, sultry voice.
In 2004 she established a recording studio in the backyard of an old house in the center of Copenhagen. While writing songs she recorded and invited musicians to join her in the studio. As developing the musical sound, this will be a debut album produced by herself and the drummer Jakob Hoyer (The Raveonettes).
She played at Roskilde Festival '05. Performed in London at Barfly and The Social among others. She was awarded a price of honor as The New Upcoming Artist 2005 given by Carlsberg. As part of a saturday night program portraying the great legend Johnny Cash on DR2 danish national tv, she performed a song with Kira Skov. Kira Skov and Marie Fisker has also been touring denmark as a duo. She made 2 songs for the shot-films "New Love" by Laurence Coriat and Lœrke Vindahl and "Vi Der Blev Tilbage" by Martin De Thurah.
Spending a lot of time in the studio lately mixing the drone of guitars, soft tambourines, sampled beats and stuff Marie Fisker's debut album will finally hit the streets this fall!
